Big old prop blades

While working today I came across an interesting find. A fellow gave me two prop blades that were from a large ajustable pitch prop. They appear to be made of non laminated walnut and are a "Bookend match". Each blade is 49 Inches long. I was just wondering if any of the old timers on here might have any idea what kind of a plane might have used this type of a prop. The total diameter must have been close to 9 feet. Bill K

Spitfires use wooden blades.

You should look for identification numbers stamped somewhere on the blade or shank, that'll go towards figuring it out, perhaps...
