I was just 59 years ago today that Cessna gave birth to a little ragwing weighing in at 1230 pounds.
I was going thru my records and realized that my 170 was made whole today 59 years ago and also test flown. I guess "OK" was a popular word because all the test flight parameters on my test flight sheet was all checked off as "OK" except for Cruise Speed, a sprightly 118 mph @ 2450 rpm at 2000 feet. Too bad my airplane is at my buddy's shop, or I would of gave it a birthday cake, I guess the cheese danish I left in the seat back pocket over the winter will have to suffice

It ought to have a nice "crunch" to it when you get it back. They always taste better after they've been able to "season" for a while anyway.
Happy Birthday!

I hope the mice don't find it.
Ever since I discovered that the only airplanes in a community hangar ruined by mouse-nests were those who had remnants of food in them (or whose owners allowed their kids to eat food in flight)... and after mutual discussion with the one airplane owner who prohibited anything but water in his airplane...and whose airplane was actually stored deeper into the hangar yet had no mouse-evidence at all....
....I have incorporated that rule in my airplane. Nothing but bottled water allowed. (I do fly with sealed MRE's in a survival kit, but the entire survival kit is removed from the airplane while in the hangar.)

Happy Birthday, 09Victor. May you have 59 more years of flying!
It will be 57 years since Dad and I picked up 59Charlie at the factory in Wichita. I find it hard to believe it's been that many years; I remember it as though it was last week. Our 170's are getting old! I like to tell people that my plane is older now, than any plane was when it was built. That really gets people thinking. It really sets the old car guys to thinking, as most of the ones I know are into 60's to 80's cars, which are really quite new.
There are lots of good airplanes, but I just love the 170.
