Catching up on some reading I came across this tidbit in the OX-5 Pioneer News:
"Captain William (Bill) Judd, who retired
from TWA in 1976, was based in
Cairo in the 50’s. Bill will be our featured
speaker on Sunday, February 13.
In 1954, Bill needed an airplane to move
to and from Cairo and the Red Sea
where he and another Captain were doing
underwater filming for a Hollywood
studio. He flew a Cessna 170 from the
U.S. with stops in Greenland, Iceland and
then on to Cairo."

I wonder which serial number and what happened to it.

So Emil Rollin wasn't the first to pull that one off... cool. My guess is that his first stop after leaving the U.S. was either Newfoundland or Labrador.

Miles

MAYBE THE WRONG PLANE

This clip says it was a C180 he flew on this particular trip. Did he fly the pond twice in small craft?

According to the OX-5 News, Capt. Judd made several records, and his duplication of the Lindbergh feat was a separate event.
