Anyone come up with a good headset hanger arrangement to keep their headsets out of the way?

I don't like putting the headsets on the air vents as they can scratch the windshield. I don't like putting them on the yoke shaft. Laying them on the floor causes them to also be in the way.

Who has designed a good way to keep them up and out of the way?

I've been thinking about attaching something to the clips that hold the trim piece in up by the windshield. And I've seen the J hooks that they use in a/c with tube bracing but can't see that working in our birds.

What are you guys using?

Kyle, If I am flying by myself, I just "seat belt" mine to the seat. Hook it up just like you would a passenger. It won't go anywhere and keeps everything out of the way. When I park the plane, I just hang the phones back on the yoke shaft. Jon

I have a V brace in mine and that works great for hanging the head set on. I grew up flying cubs though, so it just seems natural to hang them there. It is kind of an expensive head set hanger but there are big structural benifits to it too.

I hang the front headsets on the throttle. The rear two stay on the carpeted floor.
Any pairs not needed (on the next flight) are unplugged and stowed behind the back seat. I don't like to leave un-used headsets plugged in as the microphones sometimes pick up unwanted noise (for the interphone).

How about a velcro loop fastened to the hand-hold strap or someplace close? Pull the end of the strap loose, through the headset and fasten the ends back together? Very inconspicuous when not in use and not a threat to bang your noggin on.

One possibility Kyle is to attach a J hood or similiar to the kickpanel (?) by the pilot's left foot which will allow a headset to be hung there and also be out of sight, but still plugged in. Same can be done on passenger side. Member Tom Benedick has that in his 170 which I use also. I haven't found any good J hooks, so as a temporary (been using for a couple of yrs now ) solution, I took some clothes hanger type wire and made a hook that hooks over the top of the panel & is bent in a "J" shape. It is in the way if getting in the plane, but easy enough to move up to the yoke or other area (glare shield, etc) when getting ready to get in. I actually cut two brackets L____ shaped and screwed them up at the top of the door post cover and hang mine there unless I want them out of sight. It works pretty well. Maybe others will offer better options.

I've gone to Lowes or Home Depot and bought wash cloth/towel hooks. I either screwed or glued them on the the forward door post. Where ever they work best for the rear.
