Hi,
Proud new owners of a 52 170B and looking forward to flying it from Mass. to Oregon next month. Would like to fly south of the Great Lakes and then into Wyoming and Oregon. Also, would like to land at many of the grass strips along the way.
Anyone willing to offer any advice flying across the country outside of re-current training in the B?

Jack Good luck on your trip. You will be amazed at the service you will recieve at most of the airports along your route. I travel cross country in my plane often and I prefer grass but find it hard to find grass strips with good sevices like fuel and coutesey cars. Most of your moderate size airports will have a courtesey car which you will find absolutely nessasary. If you are in the vicinity of Cedar Rapids near the end of the day its a great overnight and was one of my cheapest stops for a motel despite being class C. You should check out 100LL.com to locate some of the cheaper fuel stops as that will save you a few $ on fuel One nice thing about travelling like you are you can pick stops with runways into the wind if is blowing hard. Also check out airnav.com and check under coments as that can help to avoid the rare bad experience. Congradulations on your new plane. Bill K

Jack,

Congratulations on your purchase. If you don't mind me asking... as the MA rep I'm curious... where's you buy the 170 and/or whose was it? I didn't realize there were any for sale in MA (shame on me  )
