Hi folks, I'm looking to pick up some 170B time with an instructor around Anchorage, AK. So, I need both the 170 and the Instructor....I'm picking up "my" 170B in a few weeks, and don't need to be that guy  at this point. If I'm in the wrong topic area, I apologize, first posting, ever.... Thanks, KW

I don't know any in the Anchorage area that are teaching in their own 170. I do know of some with a Citabria on Merrill. Contact Land and Sea Aviation at 274-2544. They're pretty good folks. I got my tailwheel endorsement years ago from them when they were known as Freedom Aviation. That is the only flight school I know of here that has tailwheel. Transitioning to the 170 shouldn't be hard.

Try Heidi, Heman or Rick Ruess at Artic Flyers. They teach in Taylor Crafts and will also instruct in your own plane. They have been around since the 70's. I received my Commercial with Herman in 1973. 907-243-3953.

What sort of instruction do you need? A tail wheel endorsement or sign off by a CFI for insurance purposes or some familiarization time in a 170? What level of experience do you have?

I would be glad to help you out but my 170 is in Texas. Leave your contact info and I'll contact you to discuss the options up to ferrying the plane for or with you if you are interested. I'm in Anchorage.
