Hi everyone :D
Short intro I am a private pilot working towards my CFI, I have 500hrs tailwheel time mostly in my RV-8 that I built and love. But alas as much as I love my 8 it can't haul the family :( So after a lot of asking around at the airport I have settled on wanting to get a 170B for family travel. And was hoping to make some friends here and get some advice on finding a nice 170.
Thanks again for your time reading this and if anyone with in a couple hundred miles of KS37 give me a shout would love to possibly get up and close with a 170 and check it out.
Kirk

Kirk,

You are in luck. I'm about a 10 minute flight in your RV8. My 170B as well as others is based at Quakertown. I'm based at PTW for my MedEvac job. We often get to Smoketown for Sunday breakfast.

In a bit of a time crunch at the moment but sent me a PM with your contact info and we can meet and I'll baffle you with all the BS I know about 170s and get you rides in mine and maybe an A model so you can compare them. I also know of two A models for sale in the area.

Yes George and I can do that all in one airplane. 8O

Actually with a bit of planning I can get him a ride in a '54 170B with a Lycoming to spoil him with power, my '50-'52 170A/B and my good friend Leroy's '50 A model were he can experiance cross wind landing gear.

We'll have to send him all the way over to Deck about a 8 minute flight in an RV8 from Smoketown to get a ride in John Hess's '48.
