Winter Flying / Engine Cooling

Before I had my 170, I owned a Cessna 120. When flying in the winter, I blocked parts of the cowling to raise oil temperatures. The baffling on my 52 170b is very different than the 120 so I'm not sure if I should use the same strategy. The oil temp guage is very original so I don't have a temp reading but its certianly not up to where it is in summer months.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated....

You can block the pan cooling hole with duct tape......will help, but not much..Brad
