Sure sounds like the one in Maine for his father's summer house. One nautical mile and up to 1000 feet - he is at sea level on the coast just south of Portland. I am betting that Dallas is about 500 ft ASL therefore the 1500 ft restriction.
Maine's is a prohibited area, P67, but I have not heard of it causing many problems though it is there all the time - not seasonal as you might expect.

What's missing from the text above is the part that says "Without ATC permission". Not that you aren't always at 3000 feet on downwind at DAL anyway, but hypothetically, if one happened to have a controller friend and access to a Lear 25...

So, FIRST... You'd have to KNOW about the rule... THEN you'd have to WILLINGLY (deliberately) violate that rule.... without ATC authorization.

What I meant was, you get ATC to vector you out there on a wide downwind for 13L. Maybe they need to check their low altitude alert system or something...heck, even at 1100 feet, a straight pipe Lear will rattle your windows.

A friend of mine was telling me about a little sleepy private strip East of Dallas that ended up with a nasty neighbor who erected a big billboard on his property right off the end of the runway with some anti-airport language on it. Said friend was flying for a charter outfit in Longview that operated among other things, Falcon 10s and some helicopters. They had a lot of late night and early morning repositioning flights to Dallas. Those flights were often conducted VFR. For some reason that guy took that billboard down. I guess having the occassional Cessna fly over on Saturday afternoon is better than having a Falcon 10 fly over at midnight 3 nights a week or having a Jet Ranger fly over and shine the spotlight in your bedroom window.

I'm not sure that this medium is making all the "inflections" of voice necessary to accomplish the intended communication. ... so bear with me on this...no intent of offense exists...

But if a "friend" in a Falcon 10 or Lear 20-series decided to "demonstrate" to an airport-unfriendly person that noise can be used as a weapon and that by drawing attention to himself by raising a billboard-of-protest was not in the property-owner's best interests.... and if that "friend" deliberately buzzed that property in that demonstration.... as a fellow pilot I'd be PZZZZZ'df OFF!

A few years ago, while departing KBMQ (Burnet Kate Craddock bluEldr) I made a high-performance short-field demonstration and turned left very shortly after lift-off... which placed me directly over an adjoining property-owners home alongside the airport boundary. About 30 mins later I received a phone call from the new FBO owner's wife who lightly scolded me and asked me to ....in the future... continue my climbouts straight ahead until passing the departure end of the runway at the maximum height "appropriate for the aircraft's regular performance."

I thought to myself: "Who the H---- does she think she is, telling me how to operate my own airplane? She oughta' be happy I even went there!" (The only reason I was there was to purchase fuel, which I could just as conveniently done elsewhere.)

15 years later I feel different. I value having that airport there, and I'm glad so few complaints by the next-door airport neighbors occur. There's no reason to deliberately antigonize airport neighbors.

Now... getting a closer look at a nowhere-near-an-airport ex-politician's abode might be different....

I almost wish I lived inTexas just so I could make a concertated effort to aggravate "W". I'd be delighted to be able to make his retirement as uncomfortable as possible.

We have a resident at our strip with a Bonanza that is very LOUD on takeoff (Unmuffled ?). I wonder sometime if he knows just how loud it is. Taking off to the south, his flight path is directly over our house and the sound is so loud that our mutt, Bandit*, lifts her nose to the air and lets out those ancient "wolf" howls. (* Her Bossyness Pic) It does not bother us for we are airplane people but I often wonder what the neighbors think when he departs to the north, directly over a fairly heavily populated area. Should someone tell him? It won't change the characteristics of the bird but might help him choose taking of to the south most of the time.

The stock Bonanza is "muffled" but Bob's 3-blade prop is what is making all that ear-splitting noise, I believe Gar'. My 206 with a 2-blade McCauley and Leon's (my old neighbor) 210 had the exact same engine on their similar airframes, but he had a 3-blade prop. The difference was remarkable as for take-off noise.
