A momma moose and her kids camped in our yard today. They trapped me in the house (willingly) until I had my fill of photography. I’m using the back door, so we’ll see how long they'll stay. They'll have to start rationing our landscaping or food'll be gone quick.
I discovered how brave our lab is tho. We left the house for a walk and turned around the corner (in a morning stupor) and got a half-hearted charge from mom. After retrograding, our lab decided she’d protect me and charged the moose. Of course, mom got mad and chased our brave dog behind me. Still, I appreciate her initiative - she received my Canadian Bacon for the effort.
The moose got spooked each time a plane would take off from the lake. They’d jump up, nibble on the hedge, and settle down on the path again. The hedge had a full head of leaves when they arrived. Wife’s gonna be mad when she returns. But she’ll soften up when she sees the calves – or pictures of.

Isn't it actually a bit rare for both twins to survive to adulthood? Can momma actually care for two all the way to adulthood?
My lab, Roulette is very brave when it comes to chasing whitetail deer out of the front yard, but when we were walking one evening in the dusk and she came nose-to-nose with a feral hog.... both she and the hog startled and ran from each other, with Roulette dashing back to hide behind me.

I love them.
My daughter gave ours a bath a couple years ago and only recently did I find the photos. I've sent them to Ashley (who now lives in NYC) and accused her of "waterboarding" the dog! Ashely responded with the reminder of the time her birthday cake was missing off the counter, ... and the culprit left evidence (crumbs) across the floor. Ashley responded, "Roulette had vital, time-sensitive information about the whereabouts of half my pound cake...I did what was necessary."
That sweet dog will stand for anything we ask of her, including standing in-place for her bath. If she knows what you want...she invariably will do it!
