8-10" so far here in Fargo, supposed to end up with 18" or so but no wind yet so life is good. tomorrow when the wind blows will shut things down for the day. it's a good day to be repainting my wingtips since the paint booth is open here at work.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Looking at the National Radar there is snow ALL THE WAY between me and you. All of that snow is suppose to come right over the top of my house. That means by Saturday morning I will have TEXAS snow flakes!!!!!!!!!!
We have had around 10 inches so far and another 10-12 coming tonight. Winds are to reach a brisk 40-50mph. Could be a bit of a challenge come Sat a.m. they will be closing I-29 in Sd from border to border at 7pm tonight. Also closing I-90 from LuVerne Mn to Chamberlin Sd at 7pm.
Well church is at 6:30pm so I better get ready. The trusty FORD 350HD with a 7.3 diesel and a cattle catcher up frount we should be fine.

Merry Christmas everyone!!!!!!!

Willie MaryJo and John

p.s Santa is coming :D :D......some say he looks a bit like George

The sun is out but it is still windy and blowing! 2-3 foot drifts at both doors. The drive is impassable, our road is closed, as is the highway to both Wichita falls and Burkburnett. I 44 is closed from Burkburnett to exit 107 in Oklahoma.

A good day to stay inside with the three F's: Family, Fire and Food.

Going to venture out for pictures and to clean the front of the hangar door so we can get it opened tomorrow.

Merry Christmas to all our 170 friends!

As Dubya says, we're getting hammered in the midwest with snow. Looks like I may run more gas through my snow blower this winter than I'll use in the 170!

Best wishes to all for a good year.

The radio station says we got somewhere between 24-25 inches of snow..........when I made it to town today the boys in coffee shop say we got 26 inches .....I think they are stretching it a bit    Nothing on the road but payloaders and tractors with snowblowers and so far the wind has only been 20-25mph :) ......it's going to be a long winter from here on out.
Like Kyle says, there will be more gas going to snow removal than into my plane :(

Spent the better part of the afternoon clearing our county road down to the next clear road. We are free finally after being snowbound since Thursday morning when this fun started. Beautiful day but only in the mid 30's so the melt is going slow. Called the county and they basically told us we were on our own so we started pushing snow. Only got stuck once but the neighbor was quick to the rescue.

Overall a great Christmas being stuck at home with the boys. Hope you all had a great one as well.

Since I was a kid, I've always counted being snowbound as one of life's great blessings. I still do. Even greater a blessing is to be able to live such a comfortable life that I can feel that way.

My hangar apron is almost clear (we had freezing rain in Lake Elmo, so I'm almost down to the bottom layer of ice). The J3 is on its skis, ready to go. Now I just need to hear that the crazy ice fishermen are driving their trucks on the lakes, and I can go have some fun! :D

Happy New Year!

In days of yore when I was stationed at Plattsburgh AFB up in northern NY State, "Those crazy ice fishermen" used to put a few vehicles through the ice on Lake Champlain every winter. I remember one winter when they put a D7 Caterpiller tractor through while towing construction materials out to Valcour Island. The "Cat" was salvaged the following spring by a couple of barges from Burlington, VT, after break up.

Christmas eve morning it was raining with bits of ice pellets or snow mixed in as we motored east bound from the Dallas/Fort Worth metromess to Kilgore to spend a couple of days with Becky's family. (Ours came the previous week from Colorado.) Very fortunately by the time we got south of Dallas the rain had quit and we had no more of it until later in the evening in east TX. Sometimes we don't think we can get a break, but we sure did this time. Missed all that snow and the idiot drivers here. The interstates and freeways were strown with wrecked vehicles upon our return late Christmas afternoon. Thought about all you folks in the Dakotas and Minn. Hope you all didn't have any unusual problems. I have make it almost 66 years without having/enjoying/enduring/seeing a white Christmas. One of these years we may just go somewhere and experience one---maybe that will be one of the bucketlist items. Hope everyone had a nice Christmas.
