LOOK WHAT SHOWED UP

Post by jlwild »

WOW, Three planes showed up at Georgetown, TX today. They are on a tour sponsored by the "Collins Foundation" and "CAF'. The bright shinny one you could go up in for 30 minutes for the small cost of $2200.00. 8O 8O 8O Or, if you want a slower aircraft, they would take you up in the BIG 4 engine one for $75.00 for 30 minutes. 8) 8) 8)

In my totally non humble opinion, they really butchered the classic appearance of that beautiful razorback P-51 by cutting it up and installng those silly looking passenger windows in it. I suppose they had to do that in order to haul pax for money.
I also notice that the carburetor air scoops on top of the cowling indicate that this B-25 has been post war modified with Bendix carburetors replacing the original Holley variable venturi type that were WWll stock. I never did understand why they did that. I don't remember any particular problems when I flew them with the Holleys in 1944.
