I am relatively new so forgive me if this has been covered, but I was wondering if we couldn't have a photo section for our planes like the 195 organization has. I know we have some photos in the members section but that's not what I'm talking about. Go see what I mean at the 195 page.

Its a great idea! Although an "official" TIC170A facebook page might serve the same purpose with few programming / bandwidth issues. It would be nice to have a better venue to share our photos! When it comes to calendar time, the "judges" could simply pick the year's best 12.

Why not just add a "Photos" section just below the "Members Issues" section where members could post their favorite C-170 pictures?

It is not just a matter of adding a photo section like you would add a room to your house. The software has to allow it. If there is an extension or module for phpBB, the software we use, which is more like a photo gallery it would have to be installed learned and administrated. Not always so straight forward as it might seem. And then of course the TIC170 would be hosting those pictures meaning we are buying the storage space.
It's not a new idea though the technology committee has not discussed it since we added the ability to upload pictures to threads a few years ago.

I don't know why I'm stepping in on these posts except I was supposed to go flying and it' pouring outside.
So Bruce, are you telling us that the CC-195 (180 &185) groups are more tecnologically andvanced than the 170 group or are they a Federally funded 501(c)(3) group and can afford better software?

Technologically advanced? No I wouldn't say that. They might however have a member who understands enough technology and has become a wizard at web design and spends all his time volunteering by designing and putting up a web site. Or maybe they did get some stimulus money to pay someone to do it. I don't know.
What I do know is that in most volunteer organizations such as the TIC170A, things like a web site or forum are only as good as the expertise contained within and time their members are willing to volunteer to the cause.

Just looked at the 180 site, what little of it I could see as a guest, and notice one fairly important thing. On the left column: Website Design, Hosting and Portions Donated by XXXXXX+â„¢ "Cybernautical Services for Aeronautical Businesses". So a company in the business of creating and hosting web sites has "donated" their service to create a site for the 180 folks. In other words the site is an advertisement for that company. I hope it is a good site. To bad I can't see it.

Why not just start posting photos to this or a new thread? The current software already allows 5 photos per post and doesn't limit the number of posts.
The following photo of '98C was taken at Kern Valley Airport, California, Labor Day weekend, 2009.

That sure is an ugly instrument panel, Miles. I hope you plan to clean it up a little.

What's ugly in THAT photo is those inspection plates covering the old exhaust pipe clearance holes (only been there 4 years now...); and maybe that venturi on the wrong side.

Miles is right. We can work within the current software to accomplish a photo section if we wanted. What I'm afraid of is we'd see George's pink instrument panel again.

The C-195 Club has a professional internet guru as webmaster. He does all the site code himself, provides the server, and maintains the website at no charge.
Just to get this kicked off, I've started a new thread for a photo section called "PHOTO ALBUM". If someone has a better idea, we can always change the album format.

Well I tried to post but I got an "attachment invalid" notice. What do I need to do?

Your picture's format may not be acceptable or the file size is probably is too large. You'll need to edit the picture to reduce its file size. Try to use jpg. files.
Post your pictures in the PHOTO ALBUM thread.

Or, anyone, even non0TIC170A members, may post photos at another "hosting" site, such as
www.photobucket.com , and then, using the IMG feature of our forums, post them here in our forums.
