A Google Earth sight that bookmarks DC-3 sightings around the globe. Finally the internet being put to good use. Now, how about a "Find the 170s " site?

Pretty cool. To be a bit clearer to those reading. These are sittings on Google Earth which is a collection of satellite images which change from time to time and may not accurately represent what might be found at the image site in real time. Think of it as a game to find things in a picture. That picture only representing that place at that moment. Still unfortunately, lots of DC3s are static and if you find one on Google Earth, your likely to find it if you drive to that location.

A 170 I'd think would be pretty difficult to identify on Google Earth as it's silhouette is not as distinct as that of a DC3.

A RED 170 would be pretty difficult to identify on Google Earth as it's movement defeats the satellite pic capability.

This reminds me of a tailwheel clinic I attended this spring. The instructor started out the class asking how many of us are tailwheel pilots. About 75% of us raised our hand. Then he asked us to shout out what we flew. There where Cubs, 170's, etc etc but we all got trumped when a voice in the back yelled out "DC-3". Kind of got real quiet after that. Would love to up in one sometime. Just another thing to add to my bucket list.

Several years ago a DC-3 attended Sentimental Journey Fly-in at Lockhaven Pa., in order to give rides. My 3 friends with whom I fly a lot where there with our Cubs. We all decided to ride the -3 and in preparation of that ride, visited with the crew several times getting to know them and they our enthusiasm for the DC-3. At ride time we were the only passengers for that sorty so the ride seemed even more special over and around the valleys of Lockhaven. We pointed out some of the private airstrips we'd landed our Cubs and the Captain was only to happy to take the -3 down low in the valley to check them out. Very cool and well worth the price.

There are lots of more original GREEN airplanes proudly tied out side for all to view their fast beauty.
