Not a member as far as I can tell.

N2789D does not show up in the Association directory. The FAA database shows it as a recent sale.

Glad to hear that Scott and his passenger are OK. He's a Wallowa Co. fellow, now living in western Oregon and a good pilot. Sold Scott some tires not to long ago for his 170. He came to a couple of our 170 fly-in's at Minam Lodge several years back. Sure glad he's OK, the plane can be fixed (and it was a beautiful one too). His brother, Shawn runs the Minam Lodge here in NE Oregon. I'll head into Minam Lodge for breakfast in a few days and get the story from Shawn.

Hello all, thought I would let you all know what happened with my crash last week. Thanks Bill for the intro.

I had just landed at S12 (Albany), picked up the girlfriend and taken off to go view and possibly land at a property we were going to rent in a couple of weeks. The owner was ok with me landing there and I had walked the field several times before Thursday. I came in from the south, into the wind and aligned with the grass hay rows. Just as I went past the trees the power lines became visible about 10' away. I hit the lowest of 3 wires with the prop, it hooked the left wing at the landing light and spun us 280 degrees CCW where the line broke and we dropped 20-25' straight down.

We are both extremely lucky to have walked away with only cuts, scrapes, bruises and bodies tweeked. The plane is a total loss.

Sorry to see your 170 in that shape, but sure as hell glad to see that you two walked away from it. That's for giving us an first person account of the mishap. Again, glad you're both OK and when you get over this way, I'll fly you into Minam and buy you breakfast.

I see that the primary cabin structure survived well.... Notice the door-posts? That is the criteria to consider when looking at any high-wing Cessna, because that is where the critical strength is, and is a primary consideration when thinking about rebuilding.

Yes we both did which helped with the impact to the power line. The passenger side is bent and cracked through midway at the bottom. Also the tailwheel and cone are bent about 20-25 degrees to the pilot side.

Scott, Sorry to read about your mishap...been there done that..I am restoring my 48..in fact I have 2 that I am making into one. I have lots of extra parts and pieces.. What I don't have is a set of shoulder harnesses. I would be interested in yours if you are looking to get rid of them. Greg, Joseph,OR
