You may live in Alaska...

Stolen from a friend on facebook:
Forget Rednecks, here is what Jeff Foxworthy has to say about Alaskans: If someone in a Home Depot store offers you assistance and they don't work there, you may live in Alaska.... If you've worn shorts and a parka at the same time, you may live in Alaska. If you've had a lengthy telephone conversation with someone who dialed a wrong number, you may live in Alaska. If you measure distance in hours, you may live in Alaska. If you know several people who have hit a moose more than once, you may live in Alaska. If you have switched from 'heat' to 'A/C' in the same day and back again, you may live in Alaska. If you install security lights on your house and garage, but leave both unlocked, you may live in Alaska. If you carry jumpers in your car and your wife knows how to use them, you may live in Alaska. If you design your kid's Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit, you may live in Alaska. If driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled with snow, you may live in Alaska. If you know all 4 seasons: almost winter, winter, still winter and road construction, you may live in Alaska. If you have more miles on your snow blower than your car, you may live in Alaska. If you find 10 degrees 'a little chilly', you may live in Alaska.

If you actually understand these jokes, and forward them to your entire Alaskan friends & others, you definitely live in Alaska
I loved "almost winter, winter, still winter and road construction."

On my first-ever trip to Alaska (in my J-3) the day we arrived in Anchorage it was 85 degrees there. Second warmest day on record for that city. July 7 2003, I believe it was.

Other than the moose issue, sounds just like home (Wyoming). :)

After my visits to and through Wyoming, I'm glad we do not have Wyoming's winds.
Living in the Buffalo area is tempting tho.

Assuming that's intended for me...
I enjoyed my stay in Buffalo, Wyoming. Buffalo folks were friendly, and seems like a nice area to live.
Excuse the off-topic interruption.

Or could be Upper Michigan. I loved Alaska when I was there.

Do you guys in Alaska still have those Buffalos up there in the Big Delta and Copper River areas?

Yes.
I've never hunted Delta buffalo, but the Copper River herd(s) takes a little more effort to find and get close enough.
I hear lots of success stories from Delta hunters, but Copper Basin hunters' stories are longer and more memorable.

Wrong continent, George. Alaska has bison, not cape buffalo.

There is also a good sized herd around Farewell Lake on the Iditarod Trail just west of Rainy Pass in the Alaska Range. Hunts in that area are only accessible by snow machine or airplane and generate some fairly interesting stories as well.

Back in the olden days, about 1949, one of our guys drew a tag for a "Buffalo Hunt" at Big Delta. What it was composed of was a ride in a jeep with the wild life guy out to where the animals were and then shooting whichever one he liked that the wild life guy pointed out as "condemned". A real sporting hunt!

That sounds very similar to our local rednecks when they go "window shopping" (a term used for road hunting, shooting out the window; normally reserved for night time, or to cold outside, or to windy, to cloudy, to drunk to stand, dogs have sore feet, raining like it is today, to hot, sun to bright, and etc. All other occations, window shopping is off limits, because the risk of losing yer position in the community is too risky)
