Winter is here...So is Icing possibilities...

Post by GAHorn »

Remember our convention in Kelowna, B.C. ???

Well...imagine that you're flying a MU-2 down the Okanagan Valley and you run into severe icing. (According to AIM, Severe Icing is defined as a rate of accumulation that the aircraft systems cannot keep up.)

Now imagine you're losing altitude and ATC is trying to get you over the valley and headed toward the nearest airport, which happens to be Kelowna...when your engines (yes, both of them) shut down due to ice..? or pehaps inlet air-disruption due to AOA..??

Anyway... be prepared to experience some of the fear...
