I may need someone to do an inspection for me in the Chicago area before I agree to purchase a 170B.
Any suggestions?
Bill

You might try Brad Brady. He's in Dwight, about 30 mi SW of Joliet. PM to screen name bradbrady, or he should be in the 170 Association Directory.

Now that is exactly why one asks these questions on the forum. Bill had asked me privately and I drew a blank. I don't know Brad personally other than interaction here at the forum and I don't know if I've ever laid eyes on any of his work. But his dad has been a TIC170A member for ever and Brad has grown up with the Association and 170s. He ought to know what a 170 should look like. If I was buying a 170 any where near his location I'd call him.
Here is a link to his profile here at the forum which will give you the option of emailing him which I would do rather than a PM.

As a new member Bill probably doesn't have a directory close at hand but Bill as a TIC170A member, you can view that here:

Bruce and Miles,
Thanks. The Association and forums have been a terrific resource in my quest to own a 170B.

The guy I use is Larry Johnson. He has done work for me at 1c5 in Bolingbrook in the Chicago suburbs. I would have to say that he is the best mechanic I have come across since I started flying in the 60's.
