Will I get an email that gives me the access code for the members only stuff?
Joe, unfortunately we offer members a little benefit to being a member. The members only section is available when you join the TICA 170 Association. The librarys for this organization is amazing and you will benefit from joining but we have expenses to make this electronic thing work and the membership dues help defray the cost. Hopefully you will understand but the fee to join is a step to joining the family. Capche!

Yes, I know there is a fee for members only material. That's why I joined, and paid my $45.00 online via Paypal. But I did not receive a confirmation email, or a code to access the members only material.

Welcome Joe,
It takes a day or two for Jan to get caught up. You will be really happy being here. This is a very active group. It is very helpful with many resources. This is one of the better airplane type forums I belong to. If you got a question fire away. Many times it will only be a couple minutes before you have an answer. I have seen questions answered in less then a minute a few times. Anyway, hopefully you will get your ride in Denver. You will definitely have fun flying one of these airplanes. D

Joe,

Our system is not perfect and is not automatic. You should of course gotten the normal Paypal emails confirming your payment to the Association, we did. In our process we had several notices for forum users now joining to contact the webmaster to have their privileges upgraded. It seems many of us don't read those sort of things until something doesn't go right, then we back track and read the instructions. I can only speak of course from my personal experiences not reading these types of things myself.

But do not fret, I picked up on the fact you joined and upgraded your forum privileges without you asking. Sometimes that magic happens. You already have all member privileges at the forum and long time forum users will now recognize that because you have a Association logo like most of the rest of us to the right of your posts as it seems Doug has noticed since his last post. (A picture or Avatar is actually the key. The standard is the logo. Some of us have customized our Avatar beyond that.)

You will receive via snail mail welcome packet which will include your member number and a copy of Cessna 170 - A timeless classic.

Yesterday Thad Lareau gave me a ride in his 170, and today Dave Finamore gave me a ride in his. Both nice birds, I learned a lot and had a great time! Neither of these fine gentlemen would even allow me to contribute to their gasoline.

A huge thank you, guys! :D

The Association should hope that all its members are as friendly and helpful as Thad and Dave.

Our pleasure, Joe. It's great to meet another 170 enthusiast. Let me know when you need a ride to look at purchase candidates!

Nice thought Arash but it probably works pretty well the way it is. Are you taking out an ad saying you'll give rides to anyone interested in a 170?

I think people who find us kind of prequalify themselves coming on here, networking and simply asking. I've given several rides myself to those in my area that have made personal contact with me. They are usually only looking for information about a 170 and I insist they can't know any better than flying in one.
