How to tie down in a wet place, Juneau
My 170B and I are relocating from Anchorage to Juneau next month. I will be at a tie-down for at least for the foreseeable future. I am wondering if anyone can speak to storage in a high moisture environment? Any advice on how to protect against corrosion in a maritime environment? I am new to airplane ownership. Thanks for your time!

I wash my airplane with an emulsion of water and WD40…. instead of using soap. (NEVER Soap, especially on bare aluminum.) A few cups of WD40 in a 5-gal bucket… forcefully add water with a garden hose. Rinse with water hose after mopping / applying with an old towel…then dry with old towels. It lubricates hinges, flight controls, weatherstripping, etc., and removes tar and grime…and bare or polished aluminum is preserved, the paint is rejuvenated and water “beads up” as if freshly waxed.

Nate,
Consider applying ACF-50, Corrosion-X, or other similar corrosion inhibitors. There’s several threads here on the subject. Here’s one.
