Tried logging into the member area but as usual I must be doing something wrong so I need to ask for confirmation or correction on the torque spec for the metal prop (Mc Cauley) on the C145 8 bolt. It’s a 1952 170B. We think it’s 25-30 ft/lbs.
Thanks
Rich.

Re: Prop bolt torque spec
Just found an older post that says 250 lb/in which is 20.8 ft/lb. Sound right?

Re: Prop bolt torque spec
250 in-lbs is the spec for 8 bolt O-300a props. It’s shown in the propeller chapter of the ‘62 and older 100 series maintenance manual.

Re: Prop bolt torque spec
So you’re saying use the 25-30 foot pound spec for the C145?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Rich,
No need to log in to search the non-members side of this website. Searching “McCauley torque” I found Miles entry at the end of this thread to be the most applicable. So it appears the prop bolt torque is different, depending on whether one uses McCauley or Cessna as your guide.

Re: Prop bolt torque spec
Yes, I found that post too. I found those threads by searching. I was just confused by the different specs. I think I understand now.
The A&P/IA asked me to ask the question here. He had already settled on the 25-30 number but wanted to double check with the folks who know the most about our airplanes.
Thanks for the help.
Rich.
