Horizontal Stabilizer
I am in need of a horizontal stab for my 170B. I have located one but the seller does not know what model 170 it came from. Does anyone know an easy way to tell the difference between them if there is any?

Yes there is a major difference between the '48 or A model and the B model stabilizer and that is the hinges and their placement are completely different.
If you saw them side by side you would see this.
I'd have the owner of the stabilizer measure the positions of the hinges and compare them with yours to see if they are the same.
Also and this is a big clue. the hinge parts are mounted opposite from the A to the B. In other words the hinge part on the B stabilizer is the single piece that fits between the 2 outside hinge pieces found on the B elevators.
On the A model the 2 outside hinge pieces are mounted on the stabilizer with the single piece found on the elevators.
Another big clue. The A model has 17 holes in the hinge spar. The B model has just 15.
Part number for the A model stabilizer assembly is 0332000-10 or 0332000-20 with out the tab actuator. The B model is 0532000 for the full assembly and 0532000-8 for it without the tab actuator.
