John, correct me if I'm wrong, but you do have a 210 HP IO-360 correct?
Sorry, jworth94 are you still with us?
Really John you deserve alot of credit for all the work you did on that airplane. We have seen the panel, so put modesty aside and inspire us. I think a picture of the engine instalation and a full exterior, and an interior shot would satisfy all of those who haven't been fortunate enough to see a your beautiful custom C170 in person.
Are you going to Petit Jean this year?

John has a VERY nice plane. I'm sure John and this guy are neck and neck.
BUT I don't have to wash my plane and it still has some useful load left and it cost half as much soooo.
Neither of them can be the nicest 170 in my mind.

Thank you for the complements, you should know that your 170 always gets accolades from our neighbors around Sky-Haven.
Here is a picture of the new engine toward the end of the installation.

Ohhhhhh My!!!!!!!!
Somebody splash some water in my face, I'm feeling light-headed.
I hope you realize you're flying around in my dream plane.
I hate ask this, but I got to know. Do you have any aux. tanks? Maybe I should ask the question this way. Is there anything you don't have on the plane?
Sincerely jealous,
Jon

I've not seen the bird advertised in TAP, but johneeb's got my vote. It's worth going to Petit Jean to see that bird alone (not to mention all the other great airplanes and people you'll meet).
Only thing I can see wrong with his airplane (beside the fact that it's his and not mine
) is that the aileron stops have been removed and you can just whip that 'ol yoke upside down and round and round!
Steve, you better work on your schedule!
As the date gets closer we'll need to coordinate a Gaston's stop.

Best Equipped 170
Best equipped for what? I have seen some bare bone instrument panels that met the owners needs & desires so therefore it was the best equipped for that owners use. All the geewhiz electronic gizmo's would not have made that plane "better equipped" for that owner.
Now, John's plane, if it is the one he flew to Petit Jean last year (orange & white?) the one in the photo, is just about as good as it gets. I would say it is definitely "better equipped" than the desc. of the one for sale & YEA, John's does have that beautiful Continental IO-360 under the bonnet.

Best Equipped 170B
Perhaps my opinion is overly simplistic, but I always thought the fun in flying, was to actually manipulate the controls and feel the airplane respond to those inputs. Autopilots are nice creature comforts, but in my mind remove some of the fun of flying. I do have to admit that I have a GPS in my aircraft, but only because it came with it already installed. I guess if one has all the money in the world to spend on additional equipment ,have at it. My co-pilots often commented to me that I didn't use the computer enough to fly the aircraft, to which I replied, "I was hired as a pilot, not a computer operator." I always tried to hand fly the aircraft whenever possible( except for long periods and critical flight regimes). My theory was that I could always fall back on the computer, and autopilot when needed or required. Such as a coupled approach to minimums.

John E Barrets beautifol 'B has my vote. It isn't polished (BARE ALUMINUM
) so it only is one little teeny step from the best possible. And yes it has the big Connie but I don't remember if it is IO or carb.
I looked at the photos of the plane . Still has venturies, no hsi, no de-icing boots, no alchol prop
. no ballistic chute - - what is this guy thinking?
