I can't immagine why you guys are so upset at the decisions made for OUR own good by our very own FAA.
Air space classification nomenclature and Light Sport Aircraft gross weight are just a couple of the more astute recent decisions. After all, they're here to help us!
Just think how we would have to stumble around without their guidance in all things aeronautical.

not to offend anyone,
but this reminds me of a joke:
an airliner lands at a major german city airport.
the pilot is taxiing to the ramp
and asks the control tower to repeat instructions.
tower is a little put out and asks if the pilot has
ever been here before?
the pilot answers back in a distinctive british accent
saying that, yes, he did fly over once,
but since he was busy dropping bombs and
was getting shot at, he didn't bother to stop!
the tower calmly repeated the instructions.

Or this one:
A Pan Am 727 flight, waiting for start clearance in Munich , overheard the following:
Lufthansa (in German): "Ground, what is our start clearance time?"
Ground (in English): "If you want an answer you must speak in English."
Lufthansa (in English): "I am a German, flying a German airplane, in Germany . Why must I speak English?"
Unknown voice from another plane (in a beautiful British accent): "Because you lost the bloody war!"

General Comments on LSA
Yep, the 1320 came from the metric converson of 600kg which in reailty is 1322. There were many discussions on how to arrive at the formula for LSA as far as number of passengers, etc. I'm just glad they got it all hacked out and we have what appears to be a very successful rule which give us a lot of latitutde to fly without a lot of unneccesary regulation.
Still....... I didn't see any comment on if anyone was interested in an LSA forum at the convention.

Re: General Comments on LSA
Well...all it takes is for me to be off-line a couple of days and I miss a msg post from Dale!AntiqueAirways wrote:...Still....... I didn't see any comment on if anyone was interested in an LSA forum at the convention.

Dale, I logged onto the forums the other day and the phone rang. By the time I got off the phone the forums had hanged up on my computer and I lost track of which discussions I had read "since last visit." Therefore I didn't see your origination message in this thread until it was discussed by others, and subsequently it fell into oblivion. I didn't pick up on the subject line as being an offer to chair a forum at the convention...until tonight when I see a new response brought it back to the top of the list and you posted an indication you'd gotten no response.
Of course, I'd love to accomodate anyone wishing to volunteer in such a manner. It'd be much better that you and I converse about it in person rather than in this public area, however. I'll give you a call.
George
(Let this be an indication for others wishing to get my attention.... Contact me directly or I may not see your msg here.)
