The Bunny-in-Chief will be home for Easter. Beware. 30 mile radius, ground to FL180.

Bush Ranch Weekend

Just contact Waco approach while 30+ miles outside the TFR area and get a transponder code and you can fly through the area, avoiding the 5 km circle around the Western White House itself, without any hassle.

ONLY IF YOU HAVE A VFR FLIGHT-PLAN ON FILE PRIOR TO TAKEOFF will a code and permission be granted. Otherwise, plan to be "escorted" to Waco for interrogation and a chance to win an all-expenses-paid vacation at Gitmo.

Go around the TFR and there won't be any problems. A couple of years ago on an IFR flight ATC assigned me a vector which would have taken me right over the ranch. Only after I questioned the controller about the routing did he admit the vector would have put me in violation. Folks, it's the pilot who gets in trouble, not ATC. Just stay away from it. It's not worth the attention you will get.

Last night there was another TFR south of the one around P-49 that showed yellow on my 396, don't know what that was for but another good place to stay well away.

BTW, a friend who flies F-16 cover for the TFR told me to stay 35+nm away or the AWACS will tell you to alter course (assuming you are monitoring guard,121.5) and I can vouch for that, even if you are on a tangential course and not pointed at the ranch. The F-16s are alerted any time a plane gets inside 35nm.
