Fall in MN

Post by Kyle Wolfe »

Becky and I spent yesterday with a bunch of super cub drivers flying up the north shore, along Lake Superior and over a bunch of wonderful country. There were 16 airplanes. Stopped a several spots but spent most of the day at low level. The color was unbelievable.

Tried to take some fall shots for Doug and thought I'd post one so my Southern friends can see what they're missing!

Nice! We're startin' to get that in souther N.E. now too. Looking at the colors and watching the cranberries get harvested are some of my favorite things at this time of year.

Take some more photos Kyle! I get surprisingly few (if any) fall foliage pics and I'd love to get some for next year... that goes for the rest of you too! :D

Hi Kyle! Nice photos! Where's that beautiful spot where you're parked with the red tree behind you?

It's on a private strip North of Hibbing near Cook, MN.

We met at Two Harbors, flew up the coast towards Grand Marais, turned East to Ely and landed there and then on to this private strip. Wish we could have stayed overnight. They had a live band in the hanger and the super cub boys were playing as we left. Oh, well. Just too much to get done today.

Met a hanger neighbor of yours on the flight - Jerry ???

Fall Photos

Kyle, nice photos. What you are likely enjoying that we'd like is the cooler temps. Although we have had a mild summer, by Texas standards, its still in the low 90's here.

Post some more of those photo's.

Is the bottom picture Split Rock Lighthouse? Kind of looks like it. I am thinking of flying up to Grand Marais this winter if time and weather holds out. I may have to get a picture of that in the winter.

I really like the one with the lighthouse. Great photo - just what our kind of flying is all about. 8)

Paul, yes that's split rock lighthouse.

Doug, been duck hunting in ND and last weekend up to the Canadian border grouse hunting but I'll get you a CD with pictures in tomorrow's mail.

Very nice pics. I'm in the running for a flying job in northern MN and it is nice to see some taildraggers flying around down there!

Hmmm.... an American referring to Northern MN as "down there". Gotta be Alaskan! Kinda like us SoCalians referring to anything on the other side of the Colorado River as "back east".
