Let me take a minute to preach to the choir

Post by 1SeventyZ »

I was flipping through some photos last night and I came upon one of my girlfriend standing on the ramp, and behind her about 100 feet is my 170 sitting in front of the hangar. It was one of those angles that just make you realize how beautiful the lines on a 170 are. With the tail up, there really are few other aircraft that can match its aesthetic: Sleek, elegant, and classic. The best of all worlds...a design originating from the cusp of modern aircraft production yet possessing all the traits of a Golden Age beauty.

I was looking for an image of a 170 with the tail up, but I could only find this drawing.

The drawing is of my 170B and drawn by Scheme Designers. The previous owner had them tweak his ideas onto paper for the paint shop.

Here it is in color.

most women
esp my wife
know how they stand
when it comes to airplanes!
i have long known
that a gorgeous naked lady
walking down the row of planes
at oshkosh would draw minimal attention!!

In a recent book celebrating the history of Parks Air College in Cahokia, IL a female (there were about 200 females out of 1500 students total) classmate of mine talked about a conversation she had with a male student one afternoon as they walked across the quad.

After the young man became distracted from their conversation to look up at an airplane flying overhead, she asked him if a beautiful girl in a bikini was walking across the campus and and airplane was flying overhead, which one would you look at? His response: "What kind of airplane?"
