New Paint Job

Post by Chrisb »

We have a 170A that we want to get painted. It is based in Bainbridge, Ga (KBGE). Does anyone have any suggestions for a reliable paint shop that will do a ggod job? Someone suggested AOG in Arkansas. Has anyone had any experience with them. Thanks for your thoughts.

I cant remember the name of the shop but the guys in Griffen, Ga did the AOPA airplane last year and they are a whole lot closer to you.

Curtis Brown, just over in MS, had a really nice looking paint job done recently. Don't remember just who did it but there is a thread in these forums that dealt with many facets of the process.

Thanks Flyguy... That's is a nice compliment. I had my plane painted at Aerosmith
Aviation is Longview, Tx.
web address is. http://www.aerosmithaviation.com/
There is a paint shop near me in Houston, Ms. (M44) but I chose to go with Aerosmith because a friend, whose judgement I trusted, and I took our planes to KGGG together. I also was looking into some people in Mena, Ar. I can not remember their name, but I saw some of their work and did not like it.
Aeresmith's price was about twice the price of the cheapest estimate that I got.
It is a high quality paint joband I am very happy with it, but I made one mistake. I did not provide a paint scheme blueprint and they missed some small details.
Next time I jpaint it I will know better. The plane will be over 75 years old then and so will I.
