It's wings are also from a later 100 series or are modified with leading edge cuffs.

That Kelona airplane may well have a continental IO-360 engine conversion. The IO-360 hasthe intake and manifold on the top of the engine and there is no need for the "air tunnel "to the carburetor as is used on the stock O-300 engine installation.
It also appears to have a cowl flap set up which wiuld be very nice. My IO-360 tends to run too cool with the standard cowling exit hole.

The logo on the tail indicates it has a Horton STOL kit which is has the leading edge cuff and fence on each wing.

Looks like the senate has another case of H.G.H. on their hands.

OH my! It also has a heated pitot tube, fuselage step and handle, V brace, "tundra " big tires, and some un approved colorful paint job. This guy better fly at night only.
But does it have magnets on the fuel lines?? I BET SO!!!!

It may not be a stock 170, cowling wise, paint scheme wise or otherwise, but I think its sharpe
Who knows what the 170 might have looked like had they continued to produce them for another 10 years or so.

They would probably have screwed it up with one of those "speed eating" square tails!!170C wrote:I Who knows what the 170 might have looked like had they continued to produce them for another 10 years or so.

Boy you just can't get any respect around here
Paul, I hope it snows on your parade (since I know it doing so I'm not really wishing anything thats not happening)
Took me 2:15 to drive from home to Plano this afternoon so I could be here for one of those infamous "meetings"
The way people were driving you would have thought it was snowing at the rate of 12 inches an hour

Looks like I missed all the excitement yesterday! I departed Grand Prairie (between Dallas and Ft. Worth) at 9:00am with 3000' and 20miles and 45°F. Flew thru a couple of light rain showers on the way to Fredericksburg, TX and landed in 1600', 10miles, and 45°F. A couple of hours can sure make a difference!
I don't know who's 170 that is but it sure is a sharp looking airplane!

Richard, you know how this Texas weather is---"If you don't like it now, wait a little while and it will change."
Hope all is well with you two.

I'm convinced that people suck at driving in the snow no matter where they live.

I for one, am glad they were driving slow. I was in my full-time 4-wheel drive Jeep and the roads were downright slippery, with ice on the road beneath the snow. After got off work in DFW wher vis was 800 feet in snow at 4PM, and 3" already on the car. I drove 200 miles to the ranch. Snow stopped 20 miles south. I got all the way home with snow still on the car! (4 hours at 70 mph in sunshine)
