Doesn't that sort of motivate some of you fellas to think anbout Mogas? After all, the technology of the C-145/O-300 was designed for it to run on clarified ham fat.

No, it doesn't BluElder! When I saw ordinary diesel at $4/gal I couldn't believe it! I get genuine avgas at less than $3.40 and you can't buy premium MOgas at that price around here. If folks would step back a moment and take a larger view of things, I think many would realize that the price difference between avgas and mogas is getting smaller and smaller. (And it proves a point with regard as to why most folks choose mogas in the first place, but ... that's a different thread....)

I hope you're taking advantage of the $3.40 av gas available in your area. To the best of my knowledge the cheapest av gas around this area is running about $4.65 and will probably jump to $4.95 with the delivery of a new load on Monday. This price is, of course, self service. If it comes off of a truck it's much more.

Mogas locally is running about $3.50, Diesel is about $4.20.

Two weeks ago yesterday I bought a beautiful 200cc Vespa Motor Scooter. It already has 950 miles on it and I'm getting about 65 mpg. Eat your heart out!

I would love to ride around town on something like a Vespa... only problem is the culture of this part of Texas seems to require 16 year olds to get a Ford 3500 series diesel dually for their first car. I take classes at the local junior college (not A&M for you UT types), the parking lot is full of $30-40K pickups (4WD, Dual wheel, etc.). The thing is, most of these guys don't live on a farm, they live in an apartment complex. Vespas just don't mix too well with these young guys.

The pick up truck culture has caught on national wide. Seems like every other kid here in my little town thinks he is aa cowboy - they all drive great big jacked up trucks - and none have been any closer to cattle than at McDonalds. To bad you can't sell stupid - these kids could pay their way through college.

Man, you got that right!

We lived in Ft. Worth for a while, and it became very apparent very quickly that in Texas there only two types of vehicles on the road, 1) Pick-em-ups (the bigger the better) and 2) Targets.

It was the only place I've ever lived where I would not ride my bike on the road. I never could figure out why me on my little ol' steel framed road bike was such a HUGE threat to these guy's masculinity.

Boys, I guess I blew that "Guesstimate" on the next bumped up price after the next delivery. I estimated it a $4.95, but it turned out to be $5.05 for self service 100 LL Av gas. No wonder it has been so quiet out at the local flying patch!
