Trying to find info on the original compass used on the 1952 B model. In the parts book it shows a light conductor when mounted on the glare shield with the cover.Does anyone have a complete compass to get a part # from.Or one for sale.
Thanks

Re: Original Compass
Mike, I don't see anything labelled as a "light conductor" and I'm not certain what you're asking. Can you refer to a particular Figure and item number? or Part Number?
My '53 model has a common AirPath 2" compass with built in lamp socket.

Re: Original Compass
In the parts book, page 132.Items 43,conductor light(#0511021)The compass part # is 0411008-2.I would imagine these were Airpath compasses. They will have a Airpath # I would like to find,to talk to Keystone about finding one.I have a new Airpath with internal light which hits inside the compass cover.(Used on optional gyro panel)
Thanks

Re: Original Compass
AHA! I was looking on page Fig. 41 and could not locate what you were describing. The same compass fits both aircraft, but the gyro panel version re-locates the compass to a position above the flight instrument panel to the top of the coaming. That "conductor" is a piece of lexan type mat'l to conduct light to the face of the compass .... that re-located compass not using the ordinary twisted-pair lamp.
You may have to make your own if that's how you want to proceed.
My '53 B-model compass would "ground-out" (short) against the metal inst. panel cover until I put a short strip of electrical tape on the inside, backcover of the metal cover. Problem solved, now my compass has internal lighting. (Don't tell ARDave.)
