C170's with single exhaust pipes?

Good day everyone

I've noticed a few 170's with single exhaust pipes out the bottom of the cowl from pictures that I've seen lately?

Is this a model type or engine type difference (i.e. C145 vs O-300 or A model vs B model etc)? I currently fly a 170B which has the double pipes out the bottom.

Just curious.

They are 170s A or B model converted to a Lycoming engine.

Or some of the "Big Continentals".

Some prefer a large single pipe AKA later 172s with the 180HP Lycoming.( pic 1)
(Sometimes a much larger diameter pipe and lack of blisters would reveal a "big Connie)".

For the Lycoming conversions - -some prefer this approach - - "A Tuned Exhaust" - claiming better performance. (pic 2)
