Just read the EAA email....the TSA is imposing more stringent (safe guards) for flights from the US to Canada, and other countries and back...They want to treat a 170 like a 757 (full manifest) before crossing the border.......First read doesn't seam like much....but it is another unreasonable hurdle to jump with a real consequence if not adhered to....5,000 for the first offence 10,000 and jail time after that.......
While it IS another beauracratic matter, it doesn't sound too bad, not much worse than what we already had to do when checking weather and filing flight plans and arranging for customs.
From AOPA: "The final rule still requires that flight information and passenger manifests for aircraft arriving and departing the United States be filed via the electronic Advance Passenger Information System (eAPIS), but now both legs can be filed at the same time, as far in advance as pilots want. The only stipulation is that it must be filed no later than 60 minutes prior to departure. Pilots also can update their plan in flight because of changing weather or other conditions. ...
For pilots flying into remote areas that do not have Internet access, they can complete the process over the telephone, radio, or existing means, such as flight service. ...
The manifests can be submitted online at the same time as the flight information, and CBP should have a response (approval or denial) for the pilot within minutes. .."
The only question I have is..... How is that procedure going to protect us from criminals/terrorists who aren't going to comply with it? Anyone smuggling people or hazardous materials will do so anyway. Doh!
(I think there probably is a benefit to the matter, tho'. They are going to check everyone regardless of procedure. Without advance notification the delays would be horrible while pax's are interrogated/checked upon arrival. This procedure will at least pre-clear them.)

George I'm surprised you haven't figured this out. It's going to work just like the ADIZ around Washington DC will keep terrorist out of DC. Doh!
It'll probably work every bit as good as so-called "gun control."

Gun control works.........use both hands if you can't control it with one.

All you have to do to steal any emoticon I've stolen... is right-click on it, and then click on "properties", then highlight and copy the address. Next, when you post a message, simply use our forum's Img function, and then paste the copied address between the Img brackets.
(Of course, a TIC170A Member can go to the Members chapter of this forum and select the topic "Emoticons" and you'll find a large selection there, beside the ones already available to the right of any open message box.)
