Weather

Post by AR Dave »

Some co-workers are trying to convince me it's snowing down around, Lufkin, Pineland, Jasper, East Texas area!
Looking at the big map - it looks like Bruce is getting some real weather!

I don't know what in the heck you guys are talking about but I can assure you it's CAVU and low 50s from east Texas to New Orleans.

The snow must have happened wed night and thursday. I have a customer that was supposed to pick up his RV6 today. He called me yesterday afternoon to tell me he couldn't get his Cardinal out of his hangar at some grass strip north of Lake Ponchartrain. He said there was near a foot of snow there, but none stuck at his office in New Orleans

DEER BROS AN SISRS - - - IT DID DO SUM SNO HYEAR AT TOLEDO BEND ! - - BUT WE WUZ ON THE "NORTHERN EDGE" OF THIS CRAZY STORM.

It happened late Wednesday and all day Thursday and for those points south of Toledo Bend it was a real nightmare. From Lake Charles to NO and points northeast experienced significant accumulations of wet heavy snow. G B Courtney (NH area rep) was going to fly his 170 (on floats) to Toledo Bend. They had a cottage rented for the weekend and we were looking forward to some flying and visiting. He called m e Friday morning to advise they were "driving" because of the weather. He measured over 8" of the white stuff at his home in Hammond LA and it was still snowing! He also reported lots of damage from broken down tree branches and many power lines down. The slick roads took many drivers into conditions they have never encountered and that caused many accidents.
Just more evidence of global warming
I don't know everything that global warming has to do with things but if you don't understand or haven't been aware of unusual changes in the weather patterns you haven't been blasted by hurricanes twice a summer two years in a row and snowed on big time in a place where it never snows!

I brushed almost 2" of the white stuff off the car this morning... not unusual at all this time of year in Tehachapi. The OAT (that's Outside Air Temperature, Dick and Richard   ) was right at 32, so I knew that it would turn to rain as soon as I started down the hill toward Mojave, and I would be done with it. However, on the way up the hill into the Rocket Site, the rain turned back into snow. It was the first time I'd seen snow out in the desert. One of the older hands said that it is the first time it's snowed up here since '91. It's a beautiful sight!
