WARNING!! AircraftDoorSeals!! WARNING!!

Post by Iceman07 »

OK, so I am posssibly the last person in the world to know this, but...

While in for the annual, I figured this would be a good time to replace the doorseals. After some research, I felt that the doorseals from AircraftDoorSeals ( http://www.aircraftdoorseals.com/produc ... cts_id=397 ) would be the best bet, so I ordered a kit ($129.95 plus shipping).

So, I get a phone call from my mechanic: "Hey, Rich! Where's the other door seal?" "ummm, whut?" says I. "Ya, the other seal, you only have one."

No where, NO WHERE does it say on the website or on the order form that the kit is for one side only. I think that is by design, they know that shmucks like me will pay $129.00 for two door seals, but $270.00? I don't think so... so, they don't mention that fact until you already have the first one, and you figure, oh, what the H E double-hockey sticks, I might as well get the other side. Esp. when, like me, the mechanic had already installed the left side.

I called them on it, an dthey just were not very concerned. Classic bait and switch techniqe, if you ask me.

Somewhere around $10/ft does sound a little high. What do you say, George?

If you recall, the doorseal I recommend is the T-9088 from Brown Aircraft Supply for about 90-cents/foot.
