Lightspeed Aviation Product Support

Post by 170C »

I would be remiss if I didn't pass on this info. The plastic headband on my 20XL headset recently broke. Don't know what caused it, but the unit is 5+ yrs old. When I inquired about purchasing the part, I was told they didn't sell it, but if I would send the headset to them that they would replace it FREE. I did so and they not only replaced the headband, but the stirrups, com cable (the unit that controls volume & holds the two AA batteries), both audio speakers as well as the ear muffs, 2 AA batteries & a new headband pad. All of this was done without charge including shipping back to me. You can't ask more than that from a manufacturer. They had previously replaced the ear muffs & headband pad about 3 yrs ago. Wish more folks could stand behind their products like this. :D :D :D

You didn't state which particular model Lightspeed headset they supported. They completely abandoned my two 25K's.

George,
Sorry to hear that. I see that it is not on the website anymore.
They have been supporting my 20XL (8 years old).

Has anybody used the Zulu?
I would like to upgrade, but do not want to trade in either of my Lightspeed headsets.
My wife stole my 20XL because it was smaller than the Thirty 3G I bought her. Claims it fits her small head better.

I traded my 20XL for the Zulu. I kept my thirty 3G. The Zulu is a little better sound quality than the 3G and a lot more comfortable. As far as product support, I have never had a problem. Twice I melted the battery case on my 20XL by getting it too close the the rear heater outlet on my 170. They replaced them free of charge.

I have two of the Zulus and have been very happy with them. (Although, I can't find one of them and am assuming I left it in the airplane at Del's shop in Mena. Perhaps Del can confirm this for me.)

I chose them after talking to a friend of mine in Alaska who has tried many models of many brands in his sightseeing business. He recommended the Zulu saying that he thought the Bose "might" have a little better sound quality but it was so subtle that he didn't think it was worth spending more money for the Bose. When I made the purchase, the Zulu was $150 less expensive than the Bose.

I've only had them a short time so we'll see how they hold up.
