I was listening to a radio commercial this morning and they were quoting some strange state laws. (Don't remember what they were advertising... ) One of the laws says that in Minnesota it is illegal to cross state lines with a duck on your head.
I have a few questions for any of you natives:
1) Is that inbound to, or outbound from Minnesota, or both?
2) Is that only terrestrial crossings, or does it also apply while in an airplane?
and
3) Has this ever been a problem?
This website lists this law along with several others. Enjoy!
(Assuming an adverse answer to question 2, I guess I'll have to take my pet duck to a sitter while I'm at the convention this year... and remember to bring pajamas. )

Yep. We don't take too kindly to fence-cutters in Texas.

OK Miles, I went to that web site, read about the duck, and clicked on "full text of the law," and couldn't find anything about a duck. I'm calling BO-O-O-O-GUS!!!!
I'm sure there are silly laws, though. For many years I've said that when I'm president, I will promote a constitutional amendment that for every new law they pass, Congress must repeal two. Eventually a state of equilibrium would be reached, and they could all go home and go back to work!

I had no illusion that this law was real, at least not to the extent I would fear enforcement. I would LOVE to be in the courtrom when a case like that comes up. I did the same thing you did, trying to read the full text of the law, but what I got applied to law listed above; just poor web site design. Maybe I can go to Toys-R-Us, find a rubber duckie, and put a chin strap on it...

There's a legit law in Galveston TX prohibiting camels on the beach.
It stems from an old event in which a woman went bankrupt while attempting to import camels to promote a caravan-system across the southern U.S. before railroads. Her bankruptcy led to an entire shipload of camels sitting derelict in the harbor creating a huge stench that pervaded the city.
These days I suppose the ASPCA would get involved. Poor camels.
