Most people nowadays think it improper to discipline children, so I have tried other methods to control my kids when they have had one of 'those moments.'
Since I'm a pilot, one that I have found very effective is for me to just take the child for a flight in the plane during which I say nothing and give the child the opportunity to reflect on his or her behavior.
I don't know whether it's the steady vibration from the engine, or just the time away from any distractions such as TV, video games, computer, IPod, etc.
Either way, my kids usually calm down and stop misbehaving after our flight together. I believe that eye to eye contact during these sessions is an important element in achieving the desired results.
I've included a photo below of one of my sessions with my son, in case you would like to use the technique. It also works well in cars.
May there always be and Angel flying with you.

You need to get your glasses re-prescribed, bluEldr! That's the wrong cockpit for you!

George,
Please be advised that a piece of critical equipment seems to be missing in the picture of the DC-6 cockpit. Up on the glare shield, next to the rudder trim wheel, there should be a 5/8" non ferrous box wrench on a non ferrous chain. (Non ferrous to preclude magnetic compass disturdance) This wrench is to be used on the installation nuts in an emergency removal of the of the inner pane of the windshield glass in the event that the pressurization system fails to defrost the windshield by forcing warm air between the two layers of glass in the windshield.
Please put this in your note book because you very likely will be tested on it at a later date.
Boy, I sure did love to fly that old Dizzy Six!
