I totally hear you, W! we got sun yesterday for the first time in a couple weeks, thought I lived in Seattle for awhile. Finally got a chance to test a Cheyenne after about 4 months of mx (call me a wuss, but I didn't feel that it was wise to test it while the wx was 200' and a mile for all that time) so I got a chance to take a look at all the water coming our way. At least so far it's good weather to throw sandbags

I was beginning to worry about 2pm and no Sun yet, but by 3:30 this big bright ball was shinning and by 4:30 I was up in the air. The runway @ PQN is 18/36 we had a light breeze 260 @ 12kts gusting to 14kts was a nice time to practice some x wind T and G's even for a guy with training wheels

I hope other people had a chance to get up and enjoy a little bit of flying too.....sure does the heart good :D

Yep...I flew from Kalispell, MT to Austin, TX today. Not much tailwind...only made about 488 kts.

George,

How many more mods have you made to your "mostly original" 170 to get that 488 kts?

We had C5 pilot from Dover AFB talk to our EAA chapter a while back and he told of doing low level work with the C5s where they killed a bunch of cows by scarring them to death. The Air Force apparently paid and decided they could fly higher. Bill K

Several months back a guy came to PQN with his Albatross (what a plane that is) anyway when he left he went up towards my place and did a low level pass down throught the valley and came out the other end.......well one of the neighbor ladies in her 80's heard that loud thing and called it in as a plane going down 8O
Well 4 area fire depts responded they had 6 ambulances dispatched..........not a good deal. I was glad I had gone back to work and not taken a ride with him :)
