Todd,

Send me a PM or email at AKtailwheelCFI@yahoo.com with the details of the aircraft and the dates. I will be available 25-27 April, and may be able to work something out with you.

Guys,

I did a google search, and have been in contact with Todd. It is a tragic inheritance. I quote below:

Little history as your probably wondering why someone with -0- tail wheel needs a 170. The plane is currently registered in the name of Ken Bourland. He was a good friend and we went into the Air Force together. He was a Huey pilot doing a staff tour at Southern Command in Miami. Unfortunately, he was killed in the earthquake while to deployed to Haiti back in January. His wife (Peggy) informed me that he wanted me to have the airplane which has been moving to say the least.

The direct link to what I found is here:

I'm pulling some strings at work, where I temporarily am in Tampa. If the dates work out, I would be honored to assist a fellow Airman.

Don't we have a couple of Florida, or other southern, members that could handle this job. It doesn't look like more than a couple of days flying. Two guys get together in one of their airplanes, fly down to pick the plane up, fly both planes to the destination, get in their own airplane and fly home.
We have forty four or so members in Florida and twelve or so in Alabama.

If things don't work out with Chris or Brad, give me a call and I may be able to help you out. I am located near Jackson, Mississippi which is not very far away from Evergreen, AL. I have around 500 hours of 170 time and I am a practicing CFI. I'd be happy to talk with you as you sort out the situation.

Best regards,

To all:

Thank you for all the posts. I have spoken to a few of you and will try to give the other kind souls a ring to thank you for posting replies. The plane is probably gonna sit there for another month or so until the probate procedures finish up. Got some conflicting answers from the FAA but the local FSDO really helped us out. Due to Part 47.41 (6) we have to wait and then re-register the plane and then it will be good to go. Former owner-Ken Bourland-was an association member #7878 (if I have the number right). Again, thank you all for the help. Todd Dolihite #8803
