Shipping charges

Post by minton »

WARNING: Last month I ordered (2) side window latches from Niagra air parts (12oz.). Silly me, I assumed they would take shipping charges/methods into account for these very small and light items.WELL 8O 8O , NOT SO!! They show up in a box that could accomodate 600! And UPS to boot  $32.00   That come to $2.66 an once. I called them to chalenge the charges and methods and got the Raspberry. Since then I ask very pointed questions about shipping. So far most businesses are trying harder, but ask first. Lesson learned :( .

Tim, I know what you mean. I now require notification if the distributor chooses alternative methods. I have been fighting with Aircraft Spruce to get them to drop ship stuff to me for a long time. I finally had it and called Jim Irwin and I got it all straightened out. Maybe you should call a CEO or to also. Or at least write them. Tell them that there are other distributors looking for business. In this economy I would be willing to bet you will get a personal phone call from the CEO. Thats how I roll. DOug

Shipping to Alaska has gone bezerk. I ordered a couple of 8" long x 1"dia springs for my hangar door that were $11/each and weighed maybe a pound. UPS was going to charge $66. I asked Schweiss if they would mail them. They said no. I went to Home Depot and bought them for $6/each. End of story. These vendors are going to have to get a little more interested in reducing shipping costs or they are going to be loosing a lot more business.

The main reason I used to prefer to do business with Wicks rather than Spruce is that they would drop a small item in an envelope for $.88 rather than Spruce and a $6.95 UPS package.
