Corona, CA Airport (KAJO)

Post by cessna170bdriver »

Sad pictures from 12-23-2010. From the best of my memory, the runway is roughly under the wingtip in the first photo, and between the hangars and far tree line in the second photo. :(

Those pictures make me glad I have no stock in Avemco or AIG.

Where did you find those pictures, Miles? I' like to send some to friends of mine.

Actually John I'm guessing that coping those links won't work for BL's friends because they shouldn't have access to that area.
(Just realized they were in the public area so it just might work)

BUT BL all you have to do is click on the picture and drag it to you computer desktop and a new jpg will be created on your computer. Then send your friends those pictures like normal. BTW if you want to send them the large pictures then first click on the pictures to view them in the larger version, then drag that to your desktop.

I used to be based out of Socal. Unfortunately, this happens every several years. These pictures are worse than I've ever seen it though. The airport flooded about 4 years ago but the worst I heard of was a few feet of water in some people's hangars. That is heartbreaking to see.

When we left Tehachapi last Monday evening, it had been raining fairly steady for 4 days for a total of about 7 inches. Our average annual rainfall is 11. 8O I'm praying that the Prado Dam just upstream of Corona holds; otherwise it's going to be MUCH worse!

Miles, Do we have members with their planes based there? By the tone of this news article some owners didn't get their planes out and it looks like at the left hand end of that photo the water was at least 15' deep. .

Bruce,
Your suggestion about dragging the picture is quite simple. Where do I find the "Desk top"?

Here is a picture of my computer screen. Yes this is a Mac and a different operating system but it is close enough to a Windows operations system for this example.

See on the upper left side is a browser window which in this case is Safari and that is our forum. Surrounding it is an area filled with various shades of purple, black, violet and white which is suppose to resemble a solar system or deep space. This area also has little icons all over it that represent lots of things such as photos, documents, folders and hard drives. This black/purple/violet area which can be customized and on your computer look like most anything, is your desktop.

Now BL, I wonder if you didn't really know were the desktop was on your computer. But your probably amazed how well I answered the question.

I don't know personally of any 170's based at Corona, but that doesn't mean there aren't any there.

There are some fantastic photos and great information about the corona flooding on the "what's new" tab on 160knots.com. If any of you have been to his website, he's got some great videos.
