I"ve been a bit worried as I've not seen turkeys on the ranch for several years. I presumed fire-ants got to 'em.
For the last several years I've poisoned the fire ant mounds whenever I found them, so perhaps my efforts Imagehave borne fruit!

So your getting an early start to your summer activities flying around with these turkeys instead of the usual ones. Is that what your telling us. :)

I wonder if there is an International TK B1-RD Association. Bet if there is their parts and maintenance coordiantor is a real turkey as well.

BTW that reminds me. On another type forum a gentleman from overseas sent a picture of an aircraft asking for identification. One of the smarter responses was that it might be a B1-RD as well as a few other models. A few posts later the same gentleman posted pictures of those other models mentioned for comparison to the one he posted and mentioned he has not found any B1-RD pictures to post. I wonder if anyone will let him in on the joke?

George-
As bad as fire ants are, I'm not poisoning them anymore. I've heard they eat chiggers. I don't know about anyone else but I would rather deal with fire ants than chiggers. At least I can see the fire ants.

Richard, of all the post you're put on this forum--That's the worst response I've ever seen    . It looks as if I am raising those little Bas&^^* I bet I have 100 mounds in my yard. As one La senator said about them "we need to give everyone a hammer to kill 'em and chocolate coat 'em and sell them". Right now I could raise plenty of ant eaters. For the chiggers use vitamin B-1 and poision those red SOB's.  Just kidding about your response but I am having hell with fireants. Between the mud daubbers and fire ants I guess it is time to move!! Ron

Well Ron, I concede, if I had a 100 mounds of them I would poison some of them also (but leave a few for chigger control). My place only had a few mounds and chiggers eat me up more than fire ants ever have. I would almost rather have poison ivy than chiggers, well almost.

Before I heard they eat chiggers I used to nuke 'em with Amdro. I would kick the top of the mound off and wait for them to come boiling out then sprinkle Amdro liberally on them. They were so mad they would attack the Amdro and carry it immediately into the nest. Worked like a charm.

Hey George, sorry we hijacked the thread but you DID bring it up.

Ode to a Chigger
by my friend Jack Burch:

You forsook your native weed
And true to some instinctive need
With several others of your breed
Chose me on which to munch.

Had I not happened by just then you
Would have missed this change of venue.
What would then have been the menu
For your Lunch?

In your native wild condition,
(lacking me for your nutrition)
Would you die of mal-nutrition?

Or is your sojourn in my hide
An evolutionary ride
To Nowhere? Would you just have died
an Isolated Chigger?

Meanwhile, I perforce endure
your bite, susceptible to cure
by time alone.
Thank God that you're not BIGGER!

Richard, just for you a picture of my front yard and the fire ant mounds. Fly the 195 in here and I can fill it up with chigger killers at no charge. Oh yea, bring Ina so we can talk while you shovel buckets full of those little **&^*((**&&&. You'd have to bring the 195--the 170 couldn't get off the ground full.

Miles- Thanks for the forward of Ron's email.

Ron- I have half a bag of Amdro left if you want it, I won't need it anymore. I love fire ants now. Thanks for the offer but I have a deal with my ants. As long as I don't get one chigger bite, they are safe.
