For Dog Lovers

Post by Robert Eilers »

My wife is reading a great book - The Art of Racing in the Rain. The premise of the book is a dog narrating his life. One of the suggestions in the book is that when dogs die they become men, or that men evolved from dogs not monkeys - which explains the behavior of many of my friends. The book is full of interesting and funny passages. Here is one that got me thinking - "Practically the dumbest species on the planet, next to the Duck Billed Platipus......the Platipus is horribly stupid only slightly dumber than a monkey. Yet, Monkeys have thumbs. Those Monkey-thumbs were meant for dogs...." If you think about it, initially it makes sense that God would provide man's best friend with thumbs, better enablying the dog to assist man with his dailey chores. However, after considering how things work around my house, God probably failed to provide dogs with thumbs to prevent them from strangling their male master so they could be alone with the alpha female, who they like best anyway.

Robert,
Racing in the rain is a great read especially if you are at all racing addicted.
