Sending PM

Post by 170C »

After clicking on PM in order to send a message to another forum poster, how do you get the person's name into the blank so the message can be sent? I used to know how, but seem to have forgotten the sequence

Frank
Click on the persons user name under their aviatar which will take you to the persons profile. There is a place to click in the second block down to send "whoever" a private message. Paul

Did you ever think Paul would give computer advice? 8O

Frank, Paul is right. The easiest way to get the persons log in into the blank space is to click on th PM icon under their avatar next to one of their posts. The next easiest is to click on their log in which will bring up a bigger page with their profile. At the lower left of this page is an PM icon that works the same as the one under their avatar.

The hardest way to send a PM is to go to the User Control Panel and choose the Private Messaging tab. This by default will put you in the compose message mode and you have to manually type the user log in
CAUTION - My forum posts may be worth what you paid for them!

Bruce, I wonder if everyone sees what you see on your computer. For instance there is no "PM" at the lower left of any page on my screens.

Frank... click on ANY username and their profile will pop-up. Click on "PM: Send a private msg".

HERE'S WHAT I THINK YOU ARE MISUNDERSTANDING: The username of your recipient is already selected automatically...but there is a large BLANK area where you can ADD others to the PM. It is not necessary for you to add anyone. Simply type your msg and send it.
