When I listen to a song such as this I wonder why I don't listen to more like it. I have always been fascinated by the banjo.
Then by the end of the song I wonder how much of it I could really listen to. I'm not commenting on the story or content of the song but the delivery. Just a bit to high and whiney for me to listen to more than one or two an hour I think.

It's one of my very favorites. (I especially enjoy it's parallel with Homer's "Odyssey".)15A wrote:I get a big kick out of that movie every time I watch it!![]()

George, I didn't know you had such good taste in music
That was a cool movie with good music. I have forgotten who actually did the singing. Sort of doubt it was George Clooney et al. In the scene where they were singing about being a sorrowful man-------that microphone that was suspended from above. Is that an electric mic or some kind of mechanical device used to enhance the sound? So you think we might get Ole Gar & his lady to do some bluegrass in SD?

That was an older (1930's) type of studio microphone, suspended on springs and muffled inside a "can" with membranes on each end to reduce "puffs/pops" from the annuciations of the singers. If you recall "Pete" (Clooney) had heard of a radio station that would pay $10 for anyone to sing into a "can"... and is how he in-the-moment created the "Soggy Bottom Boys" to earn gasoline money.
Ol'Gar performed at the Galveston convention if you recall...and I'm sure will be happy to oblige at Sandy Aigo...
