I just returned from Alaska where I went to watch the Valdez fly in and STOL contest. Even though the experimental supercubs are the star attraction, a couple of 170s were equally impressive, winning 1st and 3rd in the light touring class. 100 ft take offs and 150 ft landings ......

Oh yeah... when a 17 year old with a student pilot license can take off in his cub in 36 ft and land in 51 ft, it makes me think I better practice a bit more. (Alternate Bush Class, N504RB, Bobby Breeden)

That was my first time competing in that. It sure was alot of fun. I'll be going back next year for sure. There was alot of talented pilots there and some amazing mods on the experimentals.

No, sorry. I have a new camera and had trouble getting it to focus for videos. I took a few still photos but nothing special and they are all loaded on another computer that I don't have access to right now. Difficult to capture the grandeur of Valdez in a single frame anyway.......Cessna_pilot wrote:You guys have any pictures?
