C 145 O 300 Eng baffles
Can anyone provide a suplier for eng baffeling on a O 300. I have tried to duplicate w/o sucess. Help appreciated.

You don't mention which year/model/serial# 170 you have. The baffling for the '48 - '52 years is different than the '53 - '56 years since the baffling changed in '53 along with the cowl change. I don't have my IPC handy for the serial number ranges and part numbers, but there *may* be some common parts between the two styles like the piece for the oil sump or maybe the large piece that spans the back of the engine, but the parts that surround the cylinders are definitely different with the change in '53 to the pressure cowl.
If it's '48 - '52 it's tough. I was looking for some new parts (for my '52) a couple years ago without much success and wound up repairing what I had. You might try salvage yards like Wentworth, Specialty Aircraft, etc. If it's '53 or later, then it's a bit easier to find since the cowl is the same as the early 172s. I know I've seen the later model baffling in catalogs like Univair and Wag-Aero and it's probably available through the major parts suppliers (Yingling, iwantcessnaparts.com, etc).

When restoring my 1950 A model I ran into the same problem. I ended up rebuilding/overhauling what I had. Lots of hours of shop labor does not come cheap. But money can't buy a new baffle for our engines. I stripped all the old paint and cleaned it up really well. That seemed to take forever. then where needed new aluminum was riveted in to add strenght and brace areas where cracks were running. New soft baffling seal, which is easily found, was riveted in to replace the old rotten stuff. It really came out looking nice and working prefectly. Good baffling is most important!

I guess it depends on condition. You can always give the salvage yards a call and see what they have. When I was looking for instrument panel pieces, places like Specialty Aircraft were nice enough to email me digital photos of what they had. I then was able to call them back, discuss the photos and tell them which piece I wanted. It might be worth a shot if your current pieces require extensive repair.

The baffling for the later models (serials 25373 and on) are available at Wag-Aero (800-558-6868). Catalog number M-841-000 for $339.40. I put these on my aircraft several years ago when I had the engine overhauled, and it fit pretty well with just some minor snipping for a good fit. I also replaced the cheap baffle gasket material supplied with silicon material. It also did not come with the baffle supports (pn 550163-3 page 93 figure 53 index 28 ). These were not on my original either so I just manufactured my own.
