I had authored a limerick specifically for him and submitted it for inclusion in the "170 Technical" area of the Flypaper or 170 News... I was quite amused contemplating the long-distance phone call I would soon receive from him.......

But Santa-Klaus Fenstermacher, on behalf of the publishing committee, called and asked if I didnt feel it a bit unfair to place it where a timely-rebuttal might not be forthcoming... He preyed upon my sense of guilt ...so I acquiesced and agreed to post it here instead:

There Once was a pilot named Dick,
Whose fuel-buying habits were sick.
With Ethanol included
He flew, quite Deluded,
until he needed a Field - QUICK!

MERRY CHRISTMAS DICK!

'53 B-model N146YS SN:25713
50th Anniversary of Flight Model. Winner-Best Original 170B, 100th Anniversary of Flight Convention.
An originality nut (mostly) for the right reasons. ;)

Very clever, George. I like it a lot better than the one that ran: "Here's to the old Pilot named Dick. The boy who was born with a corkscrew ---- Oh Well.

They started putting whiskey in the gasoline here in California when they had to take the MTBE out, so I only got to use it for about twenty years. I was just lucky, I guess. I figured that if my Fords could handle it, the Cessna better damn well shape up.
