Density Altitude

I am having a tough time getting this video to upload. Google -Cabin view of airplane crash in Idaho- It happened in June of this year. Fully loaded Stinson at 6000+ feet of elevation. A father,son and 2 friends. Had 2 video cameras rolling the whole time. A real eye opener.

BTW we've never developed the code to imbed movies directly in the forum. One because there hasn't been much call for it. Two because you need different code for just about every movie site.

As an aircraft accident investigator this is a tough one to watch. Good to hear there were no fatal injuries.......As with every accident there are so many "holes in the cheese" that were coming together before this event..... The out come was almost predictable. There were so many opportunities to put it back on the ground safety, anyway, IMO it's a good training video to watch and learn.

Well I don't know about that Bruce. I think there are a lot of us flat landers that have a healthy respect for density altitude. The crash pilot had probably been flying high DA's for years getting away with it but pushed it a little too far.

The "alleged pilot" of that fiasco was home based in Boise and should have known better.

Shoulder harnesses would likely have reduced the injuries.

Seems like Idaho can attract pilots that have an overwhelming desire to ruin their airplanes.
Another intrepid aviator came in to Johnson Creek the other day, hot and high, without checking the wind sock ,and tried to land down hill to the north with a tail wind. He landed, and I use the term loosely, waaaaay down the runway and used the forest for stopping. Looked like his ride was a formerly pretty nice PA28-150.
